Brothers and Sisters-Are You Ready for Change?

John S. Weeney, President of the AFL-CIO, spoke to the Democratic National Convention last night and here's some of what he said...

28 million active and retired union members and their families will mobilize this fall to elect Obama and Biden to help bring about the change America needs.

A single mother of a 6th grader, a retired steelworker with no health care and a pension cut (his former company apparently went bankrupt) and a fired electrical worker (supposedly fired for trying to form a union) reflect the struggles of millions of workers around the country.  They can't afford four more years like the last eight.

They deserve a better America--an America where every worker can count on a good job, where every family has health care , where every senior enjoys a decent retirement.

They deserve a better America that works for everyone, where all workers have a free choice to join unions, to collectively bargain, to lift up their communities and our economy and build a better life for their children.

By pulling together, workers can take back the country and get it moving in the right direction.

Brothers and sisters, this is our chance to create much-needed change...and rebuild this country we love.  We can create the better America that...all of us deserve.

Through an unprecedented, national grassroots mobilization of millions of members and their families, the union movement will be at the forefront of making sure we keep America's promise.

While I love being told that I deserve a better America, a rebuilt America, a changed America and an America that's moving in the "right direction"; that I deserve health care, that I deserve a better job; that I deserve a decent retirement and that millions of people just like me will make sure that we keep America's promise... I am surprised that John S. Weeney never actually said the phrase "EMPLOYEE FREE CHOICE ACT".  It really makes me wonder why he purposely missed out on this "built-in captive audience" to plug the one thing that the Unions really want and claim will save all of America from imploding.

Either way, the Unions say that they are coming and "change" is what they are bringing?  Are you prepared to change your company?  Are your employees prepared to lose the right to vote in a secret ballot election?  Are your supervisors prepared to answer your employees questions about all these "changes"?

Well, are you ready for the "Change"?  Do you have your EFCA Defense Kit yet?
